COMPETITION | RIZLAB – JAMIE XX & QUAYOLA

Today’s music scene is a filled with pit holes, minimal sales and very little cash. It’s a difficult time for artists and independent records labels as a whole yet it’s still the coolest place to be for any individual or brand for that matter. Sponsors from the drinks to the mobile phone sector have all nudged their way in to claim a stake but none have truly took it upon themselves to push the scene they feed off. Rizlab however have started something quite special.

RizLab is a project created to allow credible, pioneering artists to freely experiment and embrace their personal passions. Rizlab spared no cost by bringing in two of the most respected independent music forces in the scene to curate this project, Moshi Moshi founder Stephen Bass and Eat Your Own Ears and Field Day founder Tom Baker.

The first RizLab project has been announced and Jamie XX will be teaming up with world-renowned visual artist Quayola. Over the coming weeks, Jamie XX will collaborate with Quayola, whom he has long admired. Their work will culminate in a one off audiovisual experience named ‘Structures’ on the 22n of September in a yet to be named London location.

Jamie XX will be playing a marathon four hour set showcasing new material from his forthcoming EP whilst Quayola takes us on a visual voyage using two epic 17 metre HD screens.

With both artists equally excited to work with each other you know we’re all in for a real treat!

Jamie XX: “Having played at so many parties this year, it’s exciting to be able to use Quayola’s work to immerse the crowd deeper into the whole experience.”

Quayola: “It’s amazing to receive this kind of support for such a complex, challenging and experimental project like this one. I’m very keen on working with Jamie xx and I’m looking forward to seeing how the audience will react to this immersive experience.”
